The object of the game is to create as many "10s", "11s" or "12s", through adding all spots in a line. On every turn a player draws two tiles (with 1-6 spots) from the bag. They then place the tiles according to the rules, on to the board to score the most points. After each turn, points are awarded and the winner is the player with the most points after all the tiles have been drawn.

Zatre has been played in Europe for 30 years. Championships take place annually.
